Agency network of the year: OMD

The Omnicom agency has once more delivered on its promise to be the world's most awarded network by topping Cream's selection chart.

It's very easy to knock the OMD awards machine. In each of the past few years it's proudly boasted that it's picked up more gongs than any other agency, and in each of the past few years it's probably spent far more and entered far more campaigns for awards than any other network.

That may be the case, but what it's had to enter has generally been pretty good and it's spread excellence throughout the network not just in the obvious markets.

At the same time it has managed this process while management resources have also been diverted to help the roll out of PHD – no easy task – as well as picking up some rather tasty international accounts. The cynicism is easy, but the reality for other agencies is that time and again OMD wins when it comes to convincing the judges at the big awards.

In our own jury room, OMD has topped the network chart by getting more campaigns selected in the last four issues of Cream than any other network. Entries have come from as far afield as Peru, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand.
Starcom and a chasing pack that also includes MindShare are getting close, but this year OMD is on top.
